Short plain-language definitions for producers. Educational only. Not legal, tax, securities, accounting, or investment advice.

## Budget
The planned cost to make and deliver the film under stated assumptions.

## Capital stack
The layered mix of money sources (for example equity, debt, soft money, and other participations) used to fund the film.

## Recoupment
How and when investors or financiers are paid back from defined revenue streams under the deal assumptions.

## Waterfall
The ordered payment sequence that says who gets paid first, second, and later from film receipts after allowed deductions.

## Off-the-top deductions
Fees or expenses taken before money flows down the waterfall (for example certain sales fees or expenses), reducing what remains for later participants.

## Investor position
Where a given investor sits in the capital stack and waterfall, including priority and payback framing.

## Producer upside
What may remain for the producer side after earlier waterfall obligations are satisfied under the model assumptions.

## Finance baseline
A structured first-pass model of budget, financing, and payback order used to orient conversations before deeper professional work.

## Lookbook / creative package
Creative materials that help people feel the movie. They do not by themselves answer how financiers get paid back.

## Educational boundary
FilmmakerOG materials help producers get oriented. They do not replace qualified attorneys, accountants, lenders, sales agents, or other professionals.
