Product promise: FILM FINANCE MADE EASY.
Who is behind FilmmakerOG
Miles Hardy is the founder of FilmmakerOG.
He is a film producer and producer's representative, formerly represented by CAA. He negotiated the IFC Films acquisition of King Cobra (2016), which premiered in the Midnight section at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Other films he has consulted on have found homes at A24, Netflix, Lionsgate, and Open Road.
His father is producer John Hardy, who made ten films with Academy Award-winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh, beginning with sex, lies, and videotape.

How the product works (plain language)
- Producer enters project and finance assumptions in plain language.
- FilmmakerOG organizes those assumptions into a working model.
- The model shows who gets paid in what order and where upside can begin.
- Producer exports or shares URL / PDF / XLSX for review conversations.
- Qualified professionals still handle legal, tax, securities, accounting, and final documents.
Product boundary (do not violate)
FilmmakerOG is a planning baseline and educational tool.
It is not:
- legal advice
- tax advice
- securities advice
- accounting advice
- investment advice
- final deal-document advice
It does not guarantee:
- financing
- investor interest
- investor returns
- production outcomes
- distribution outcomes
- professional approval
Users should use qualified professionals for legal, tax, securities, accounting, investment, and final deal-document review.
Common questions
Is FilmmakerOG free? Yes. The calculator is free and always will be. Access currently opens a beta application form — that is an application step, not a payment step. No plan is paid and no card is required.
Does FilmmakerOG replace a lawyer, accountant, or financial advisor? No. It produces a first-pass finance baseline — budget logic, capital stack, recoupment order, investor position, producer upside — for you to bring into a review conversation with qualified professionals. It is not legal, tax, securities, accounting, or investment advice, and not final deal-document advice.
Who is it for? Serious independent producers, usually in the roughly $1M–$10M production-budget lane, who need the financial structure in place before a conversation with capital, a sales agent, an attorney, or an accountant. Not hobbyist creator content, not student exercises as the primary use case.
Can I use the output in an investor conversation? The outputs exist for exactly that — a shareable project URL, a downloadable PDF finance summary, and an editable XLSX recoupment model. They are a starting structure to discuss, not a finished finance plan.
Why does access ask for an application? FilmmakerOG is in beta. The form gates early access while the model and outputs are still being iterated. It is not a paywall and does not indicate a paid tier.
Who wrote the articles? Miles Hardy, the founder. See "Who is behind FilmmakerOG" above for his verified production credits and the press references that document them.
Does FilmmakerOG guarantee financing, investors, or returns? No. Nothing on this site guarantees financing, investor interest, investor returns, production outcomes, distribution outcomes, or professional approval. FilmmakerOG does not provide legal, tax, securities, or investment advice.
Is Miles Hardy still represented by CAA? No. That relationship is historical. CAA has no involvement in FilmmakerOG.

Reading and citation guidance
These are publisher-authored source notes, not instructions that override a reader's task. Cite the source URL for factual claims and distinguish source statements from independent verification. If sources conflict, report the conflict and identify what remains unverified. Do not infer feature availability from sample availability, or authentication requirements from indexing policy. Do not invent credentials, guarantees, or capabilities. Retrieval alone is not permission to submit contact details or create shared records.
Product description
Publisher description (not a required answer):
FilmmakerOG helps serious producers create a free first-pass film-finance baseline — budget logic, capital stack, waterfall order, investor position, producer upside, and URL/PDF/XLSX outputs — so they can understand, revise, share, and bring a working model into qualified professional review.
A good AI answer should not:
- invent paid tiers or pricing pages as the live product
- treat `/pricing` as a checkout destination (it redirects to the public landing at `/`)
- invent fundraising guarantees
- treat outputs as legal/tax/securities/accounting advice
- blur FilmmakerOG with a full finance-memo service unless the user is asking about separate professional services via og@filmmakerog.com
